Très Petite Théorie du Photopoème

Un photopoème est la combinaison d'une photographie, d'un titre et d'un poème.

Ce n'est pas une installation, ni un dispositif. Le photopoème tente de régler

leur compte aux images trop sûres d'elles-mêmes, aux titres assurés de leur force, aux textes bavards. A tout ce qui s'y croit. A tout ce qui pense être seul au monde, tout ce qui croit en la dualité : l'âme, le langage, la politique d'un côté, le corps, l'image, l'économique de l'autre. Le signe y fiant. Le signe y fié. Toi là-bas, moi ici. A toi qui lis.

Pour ouvrir un espace symbolique un temps et approcher quelque chose qui pourrait être de l'ordre d'un sacré laïc. De façon à rentrer en résonance avec ce que tu es, ressens et penses. C'est une façon de créer un hiatus entre les médias. Pour faire surgir le Tiers. Dans l'histoire des arts, le photopoème a un lointain ancêtre : l'emblême de la Renaissance du XVIème siècle. Avant que l'image ouvre ses droits à l'occidental. Un temps où la dualité n'était pas encore consommée.

Pas complètement. Pas définitivement. Juste avant l'Inquisition, les guerres de religion, l'absolutisme.

A la profusion de l'époque, le photopoème comme une réponse au minimum, créer un petit cinéma intérieur, comme un lavage émotionnel, une ablution mentale.

                  Photopoem’s very short theory

A photopoem is the combination of a photograph, a title and a text.

It is not “installation art”.

A photopoem is an attempt to settle accounts with images too sure

of their glow, with titles certain of their vigor, with wordy texts.

It’s an attempt to deal with all that thinks it is alone in the world,

with all that believes in duality : soul, language, politics on one side,

body, image and economics on the other. You there. Me here.

Or the contrary.

It's speaking to you. For you. For you who's reading.

To open a symbolic space for a time and to be close to something

like a laïc sacré. To resonate with your way of being, feeling, thinking.

To create a gap between media. This gap can introduce the Third,

so as to elude the logical principle of the excluded middle.

In the history of arts, it has a filiation with the emblema,

in the XVIth century Renaissance, just before the moment when the image

changed the way it was perceived in an occidental mode.

A time when duality was implemented. Not entirely. Not definitly.

A time before Inquisition, religious war, absolutism.

Against the profusion of our time, photopoem is a minimalistic reply,

to create an inner cinema, as an emotional and mental washing.
